Signal interpretation and limitations

Principles for reviewing EdgeTrend without overstating what a chart signal can prove.

What to do after a signal

Check BUY / SELL and the level on a closed candle, then review your entry, exit and loss limits. You can skip the trade. Lv1, Lv2 and Lv3 represent different signal conditions, not accuracy grades. SELL is not an automatic short-selling instruction, and alerts do not execute orders. Review the workflow in paper trading first.

Candidates are not certainty

A BUY or SELL label marks a condition-qualified candidate, not a guaranteed reversal. Adverse movement can follow any label.

Avoid selection bias

Review continuous periods, not only favorable screenshots. Include fees, slippage, missed fills, and drawdowns in any evaluation.

Results depend on context

Market regime, liquidity, volatility, session, symbol, and timeframe change signal frequency and usefulness. Past performance does not guarantee future results.

When BUY and SELL become known

BUY/SELL Lv1, Lv2 and Lv3 conditions use the completed candle. A close-confirmed candidate is not an instruction to trade or a guaranteed reversal. Review the alert configuration and the actual confirmation candle.

Why a SHIFT can appear on an earlier candle

SHIFT uses a confirmed pivot and subsequent structure conditions. Its diamond is drawn back at that earlier pivot after confirmation, not at the time the pivot first occurred. A historical diamond therefore does not prove that a trader could have acted on that pivot candle.

Which drawings can change

A new same-direction SHIFT can replace the prior SHIFT line and label. The live ATR rail can also update with price. Close-confirmed BUY/SELL candidates, retrospective SHIFT drawings and the live rail must not be treated as identical or universally non-repainting.

What the NVDA example measures

The daily example uses two fixed dates: 31 October 2023 (close 40.78) and 8 February 2024 (close 69.641). (69.641 ÷ 40.78 − 1) × 100 = 70.7724%, displayed as +70.8%. The interval contains 69 daily bars including both endpoints. It is a price-change illustration, not verified trading profit.

What has not been established

The displayed markers are fixed for the illustration, not generated by running the current indicator. A current-version signal replay and a documented exchange/data-adjustment configuration are not provided here. Fees, slippage, taxes and executable fills are excluded. Do not infer strategy performance or customer returns from this example.

How to evaluate it yourself

Record the indicator version, settings, symbol and exchange, timeframe, session, adjustment mode, confirmation candle and alert time. Test a continuous period including losing signals. The market-gainers strip shows market price changes, not results produced by EdgeTrend.

Review method

We cross-check the current product configuration, a continuous chart period, and the published purchase and refund policy. Examples explain the workflow and do not promise future performance.
